STUDENT
DRESS AND APPEARANCE
Students are expected to be ladies and gentlemen in school
and should dress accordingly. Dress that impairs the educational
process and is not in keeping with good health and safety standards
will not be permitted.
Clothing that has printing or pictures that are derogatory
or offensive in nature or not appropriate for the school
setting will not be allowed. Short shorts/skirts, cutoffs,
bicycle shorts, half shirts, see-through articles of clothing
(i.e. mesh shirts), etc. will not be allowed in classrooms
or halls unless worn for and only during an athletic activity.
Articles of clothing with advertising for alcohol, tobacco,
illegal substances or gang-related symbols will not be allowed.
Students wearing such apparel will be asked to change. The
personal appearance and dress of the student shall be in
good taste and not be disrespectful or offensive to others.
The appropriateness of dress may be determined by the Lead
teacher.
Wearing hats or caps of any type or non-prescribed dark
glasses during the regular school hours will not be permitted
in the building. Students will be asked to remove their hats
or caps or dark glasses when worn in the building. Repeated
offenses will result in the loss of the hat, cap, or glasses.
Unless there is a problem with the heating in the building,
outdoor clothing should be left in the lockers.
Book bags and backpacks should be stored in the lockers
and not brought to classes.
*** INAPPROPRIATE DISPLAY OF AFFECTION
Students are reminded that the school is a formal setting,
much like a place of business. Public display of affection,
actions with sexual innuendo and/or any activity that would
be considered misconduct of a sexual nature, does not have
a place in school or as part of any school related activity
and will not be tolerated.
*** HABITUAL OFFENDERS
Habitual offenders are students who break various rules on
a regular basis.
Habitual offenders will be given multiple days of in-school
suspension and/or out-of-school suspension and/or brought
before the Board of Trustees for further disciplinary action
which may include expulsion.
*** ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Punishment for the violations of school rules may carry
over to the next year.
