Rights Concerning Student Records

DISCLOSING DIRECTORY INFORMATION

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) gives public schools the right to disclose directory information. Board policy designates these items as directory information:

Name of student
Parents'/guardians' names and addresses
Student's address, phone number (if not unlisted)
Date of birth and place
Grade level
Information in relation to school-sponsored activities, organizations and athletics
Achievement/awards/honors
Student's photograph
Period of attendance in school
School attended before Morin Elementary School

If a parent does not wish to have any of this above information disclosed, Morin School must be notified in writing.

The right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education, concerning alleged failures by the District to comply with the requirements of FERPA.
