RELEASING A STUDENT

If a representative of a public agency, such as S.R.S., Welfare, Court Services, or other law enforcement agency, comes to the school to remove a child, staff members should:

  1. Ask for identification.
  2. Call the office of the agency to get confirmation.
  3. Request that the "visitor" complete the authorization form.
  4. Give the "visitor" a copy of the form.
  5. Notify the chairman of your Board and the County Superintendent's office.
  6. Call the parent, if appropriate.
  7. Keep your copy of the form, court orders, or other reports
    on file.
RETENTION

The Board shall be advised by spring conference time when a teacher feels a student should be retained. A conference will then be scheduled with the parents.

Any 1-6 grade student missing 15 days or more during the school year may be retained. Kindergarten students missing 10 days or more during the school year may be retained. A letter will be sent home to the parents when the child is approaching the number of days. A physician's excuse may be the exception. This will be determined by the Board.
