RELEASING
A STUDENT
If a representative of a public agency, such as S.R.S.,
Welfare, Court Services, or other law enforcement agency,
comes to the school to remove a child, staff members should:
- Ask
for identification.
- Call the office of the agency to get
confirmation.
- Request
that the "visitor" complete
the authorization form.
- Give
the "visitor" a
copy of the form.
- Notify
the chairman of your Board and the County Superintendent's
office.
- Call the parent, if appropriate.
- Keep your copy of the
form, court orders, or other reports
on file.
RETENTION
The Board shall be advised by spring conference time when
a teacher feels a student should be retained. A conference
will then be scheduled with the parents.
Any 1-6 grade student missing 15 days or more during the
school year may be retained. Kindergarten students missing
10 days or more during the school year may be retained. A
letter will be sent home to the parents when the child is
approaching the number of days. A physician's excuse may
be the exception. This will be determined by the Board.
